The Romanian Leu (RON) is the currency of the Romania since 2005, replacing the Romanian Old Leu (ROL) at a rate of 10,000 Old Lei for 1 new Leu. The name ‘leu’ (plural lei) means ‘lion’, from the heraldic beast on the original coin.
